Therapy Dog Urgent Care | Vitality Urgent Care

Urgent Care visits can be stressful,  especially for children. At Vitality Urgent Care, we believe great healthcare starts with feeling safe and at ease. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Jada, our sweet mini Goldendoodle therapy dog who visits our clinic to bring comfort, calm, and a whole lot of tail wags.

Who Is Jada?

Jada is a mini Goldendoodle — one of the most gentle, intuitive, and people-loving breeds there is. Known for their hypoallergenic coats, warm temperament, and natural sensitivity to human emotion, Goldendoodles have become a top choice for therapy and comfort animal programs across healthcare settings.

She visits our clinic regularly, greeting patients in waiting areas and exam rooms, providing a calming presence that can make all the difference — especially for young patients who feel nervous about medical visits.

Kids Love Her. And She Loves Them Back.

One of the most rewarding things about Jada’s visits is watching anxious children transform the moment she enters the room. What starts as a nervous, reluctant patient can turn into a giggling, relaxed child — all because of a friendly furry face on the floor.

Research shows that therapy dogs can truly change how patients feel during a medical visit. Animal assisted therapy has been linked to lower stress levels, reduced heart rate, and even less perceived pain, especially in children.

But honestly, we do not need a study to tell us this.  We see it every time Jada walks through the door.A child who was nervous starts to smile. A patient who felt tense begins to relax. The entire room feels lighter.

Not Just for Kids — Adults Feel It Too

Urgent care anxiety isn’t just a childhood experience. Many adults feel stress and apprehension about medical visits — whether it’s worry about a diagnosis, needle anxiety, or simply the discomfort of being unwell. Jada doesn’t discriminate. She’s there for everyone.

The Benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy in Urgent Care

Animal assisted therapy is becoming more common in healthcare, and for good reason. It helps patients feel calmer, more comfortable, and more at ease during their visit. Here is what it looks like in real life:

  • Reduces anxiety
Spending even a few minutes with Jada helps patients relax. Kids who were nervous often settle down quickly.
  • Improves communication
Children who feel shy or scared often open up more when Jada is in the room. It helps us connect and provide better care.
  • Lowers perceived pain
Distraction and comfort can make exams and procedures feel easier, especially for younger patients.
  • Builds trust in healthcare
A positive visit today can shape how a child feels about medical care for years to come.
  • Provides emotional support
Sometimes patients just need something comforting and familiar. Jada offers that without any pressure.
  • Makes visits smoother
Calmer patients are easier to examine, which helps us provide efficient and thorough care.

Our Commitment to a Stress Free Visit

Jada is just one part of how we make urgent care feel different.

Whether it is a child with their first illness or an adult who has been putting off a visit, care should feel simple, supportive, and human.
